Dr. David Gardner is the Scientific
Director of Fertility Laboratories of Colorado (FLC).
He received his BS and PhD degrees from the University
of York in the United Kingdom and completed postdoctoral
fellowships at Harvard Medical School and the University
of York.
Prior to coming to Colorado in 1997, Dr. Gardner was the Deputy Head of the Embryology
and Fertility Research Unit at the Center for Early Human Development, Monash
University, Australia, where he worked for over eight years. He has published
more than 100 scientific papers and 20 book chapters on IVF and embryology.

The primary research activities of Dr. Gardner and the research team are on the
physiology, genetics, and culture of the human embryo. The research team is currently
developing new cryopreservation procedures for oocytes and embryos, and are also
developing new viability tests which will determine the health of a given embryo
prior to transfer. Through the research endeavors of Dr. Gardner and the research
team, FLC and the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine will continue to
be leaders in introducing new technologies that will benefit couples going through
IVF therapy.
